Infographics and slow journalism

“Once every three months we strip out the churnalism and return to the source.”

Delayed Gratification magazine specialises in ‘slow journalism’. Part hipster trend, part serious attempt at analysis and debate, the slow journalism movement is all about taking a step back and getting some perspective away from the nose-down attitude of social media and instant gratification.

Editor Rob Orchard gave a talk in Brighton in mid-January 2016 on the subject of Infographics. It was a one-hour speed-read of a longer all-day course he usually gives at the Guardian and was presented as part of a monthly series at the shop Magazine Brighton.

It was enlightening, fun and interesting and left us with lots of ideas, not least how to use graphics better to illustrate news stories. Good to see someone waving the 'Print is Not Dead' flag so vociferously too!
